session guide

what to wear

Outfits make a huge difference in how your photos turn out, so I always recommend choosing something you feel confident and comfortable in.

Soft, neutral colors photograph best. Think whites, creams, light blue, tans, soft blues, muted greens, and light pinks. These tones keep your images looking timeless and cohesive.

Avoid bright colors, busy patterns, large logos, and anything too distracting. These can take attention away from you.

If you are doing a session with multiple people, coordinate your outfits rather than matching exactly. Choose colors that complement each other instead of everyone wearing the same thing.

Flowy dresses photograph beautifully and add movement to your images, but the most important thing is that you feel like yourself.

the best time for photos

I schedule most sessions during the best lighting of the day, which is typically one to two hours before sunset. This is when the light is soft, warm, and most flattering.

If your session is scheduled earlier in the day, I will choose a location with good shade to still create beautiful lighting.

Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to your session to touch up hair/makeup and settle in.

during your session

You do not need to worry about being “good in front of the camera.” Most of my clients say that at first!

I will guide you through everything in a way that feels natural and easy. I may have you walk, laugh, interact, or move around rather than only stand still and pose.

You are more than welcome to bring a friend if it is just you during a portrait session!

The best photos come from real moments, so don’t stress about being perfect. Just focus on enjoying the session!

graduation champagne pop

If you are booking a graduation session, let me know if you plan on doing a champagne pop!

I always recommend bringing two bottles: one as a backup in case the first doesn't cooperate.

Or even one, and then a bottle of Sprite to refill it!

Another alternative would be confetti poppers.

Your only job is to show up, be present, and enjoy the moment!

referrals mean the world

As a small business, word of mouth is everything! If you love your experience, I'd be incredibly grateful if you'd share my name with friends and family, or even just tag me in your pictures. I photograph weddings, engagements, families, grads, events, and more.

I'd love to capture their special moments too!
